Rüdenburg

The remains of walls at "Adlerberg" ("Eagle Mountain") witness the existence of a castle (Rüdenburg) built in 1060. It is also called "Old Castle". Twelfth century travellers up the Ruhr valley would have been impressed by the sight of two castles on either side of the river. You can walk round the whole complex on the foundation of the "Rüdenburg", which was problably given up early in the 14th century and has beenn falling to ruins since then.
